A court in the Moscow region sentenced three former employees of the Istra temporary detention center for the escape of five prisoners

The Krasnogorsk City Court of the Moscow Region sentenced three ex-employees of the temporary detention center in Istra to terms ranging from three years to three years and three months in prison for escaping prisoners. This was reported by the Department of the Investigative Committee for the Moscow Region.

The former head of the temporary detention facility, Andrei Starshinov, and his subordinates, Elizaveta Burdakovskaya and Sergei Lavrentyev, were found guilty of exceeding official authority (clause “c” of Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code). The men were sentenced to three years and three months, and Burdakovskaya was sentenced to three years in a general regime colony.

According to investigators, on August 6, 2021, they helped Alexander Mavridi, accused of murdering the owner of the Meat Empire, Vladislav Marugov, and four other prisoners escape from the colony. All were detained for two months.

In addition to the temporary detention center employees, security forces detained two local residents, who were accused of aiding and abetting an escape from custody (Part 5 of Article 33, Part 2 of Article 313 of the Criminal Code).
