United Russia deputy Piskarev proposed to try those who collect money for the Ukrainian army in cases of treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code).
The bill was introduced on behalf of the Commission to Investigate Facts of Interference by Foreign States in the Internal Affairs of Russia, headed by Deputy Piskarev. According to him, the adoption of the initiative will allow “to take adequate measures” and stop the collection of money for the “enemy army.” The deputy claims that in the summer there were already attempts to open such gatherings in Moscow.
“Any calls to donate money to the enemy, as well as information on how to do it “safely,” must be blocked. And those responsible for this should be brought to criminal responsibility,” Piskarev said, adding that people who collect money should be tried under the article of the Criminal Code on high treason, which provides for up to 20 years in prison.
Deputy Vasily Piskarev submitted to the State Duma initiatives to assign the status of “foreign agent” without foreign funding, to recognize maps of Russia without Crimea and the Kuril Islands as extremist, and to equate “switching to the enemy’s side” with treason. Also in March, Piskarev asked the prosecutor's office to ban the anti-war white-blue-white flag.
