A group of women, identified as wives and mothers of servicemen of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, have stated that their relatives were subjected to sexual violence by soldiers from Chechnya.
This follows from the women's appeal to the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, which was published on the anonymous Telegram channel "Batman DPR" on the morning of September 27. Later, human rights activist from Chechnya Abubakar Yangulbaev stated that the authenticity of the appeal was confirmed to him by a source in the Chechen regiment "Sever".
The appeal states that the victims of violence were two servicemen of the 1st Army Corps of the so-called DPR People's Militia, who were mobilized in the city of Dokuchaevsk. The names of these servicemen are hidden.
An unprecedented incident occurred in the area of the settlement of Berestovoye, where our military is fighting off attacks by Ukrainian nationalist battalions. Two servicemen of the DPR People's Militia... who were mobilized from Dokuchayevsk and worked in the city administration before mobilization, were raped by Chechens in front of their fellow soldiers. The fellow soldiers who wanted to protect our guys were threatened with weapons and promised to shoot them "like dogs."
The appeal also states that “the military command does not want to enter into confrontation with Ramzan Kadyrov’s subordinates” and is trying to cover up the incident.
The appeal is dated September 23. It contains the names and signatures of nine people. The authorities of Chechnya or the self-proclaimed DPR have not commented on it.
