The FSB began an investigation into terrorism after the accident on the Nord Stream gas pipelines. This was reported in the telegram channel of the Prosecutor General's Office.
“No later than September 26, 2022, in the area of the island of Bornholm, deliberate actions were taken to damage the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines laid along the bottom of the Baltic Sea,” the release said.
The intelligence service opened a case under Part 1 of Article 361 of the Criminal Code (act of international terrorism).
The simultaneous destruction of three lines of gas pipelines became known on September 27. On the night of September 26, a gas leak occurred on one of the strings of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline closer to Denmark. Later it became known about the destruction of both lines of the Nord Stream 1 pipeline in the same waters. Seismologists recorded two explosions after a gas leak.
Sources of the German publication Der Tagesspiegel claimed that the cause of the drop in pressure in gas pipelines was sabotage. According to experts, it could have been organized by both Ukraine and Russia.
