The departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB for Dagestan detained administrators of telegram channels covering protests against mobilization. Footage of the arrests was published by the Dagestan State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company.
According to the security forces, the detainees administered channels that “spread false information about mobilization in Dagestan” and called for protests “as part of an information and subversive action” by the intelligence services of Ukraine and the United States. State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company "Dagestan" does not provide the names of the telegram channels, the names of the detainees and the charges against them.
Judging by the video, at least seven men were detained according to the same principle: near roads in the countryside, a white Gazelle drove up to them, from which armed security forces in camouflage and masks ran out. The detainees were thrown to the ground, and then handcuffed and put into a minibus. There is no sound in the video fragments with the inspection of the men's personal belongings.
The pro-government telegram channel “Attic of Dagestan” published two videos with participants in the protest channels “Morning Dagestan”, “Basement of Dagestan” and “Highlander”. Both say that they joined groups and chats, and then found out that they were administered from abroad. One of the men reads a text from a piece of paper; the sound of pages turning can be heard off-screen.
Large-scale protests against mobilization took place in Dagestan on September 25 and 26. More than a hundred people were detained. On the first day of the rallies, the telegram channel “Basement of Dagestan” with 60 thousand subscribers reported a search in the house of one of the administrators.
“Basement of Dagestan” and the telegram channel “Morning Dagestan”, which announced the protests, and which has more than 120 thousand subscribers, did not confirm the detention of their comrades.
