In Khabarovsk, a pensioner was fined for going to a protest with bath accessories

The Central District Court of Khabarovsk fined pensioner Liliya Gubina 10 thousand rubles, who went to the city center for a protest with bath accessories. The SOTAvision editorial office reported this to OVD-Info.

The woman was found guilty under the article on participation in an uncoordinated public action (Part 5 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code). Gubina was detained the day before on Komsomolskaya Square, where she was sitting with a friend on a bench, and taken to the police department to draw up a report because of the action on September 18.

That day, local activists came to the government building of the Khabarovsk Territory with bath accessories in protest against the head of the region, Mikhail Degtyarev, who is known for his love of visiting the bathhouse.

On September 25 , 26 and 28 , police detained other participants in this action - Lyudmila Frolova, Zigmund Khudyakov and Andrei Stafeev. The latter stood with the “Freedom to Furgal” flag. They were all also charged with participating in an unapproved public event.

• Since the arrest of ex-governor of the Khabarovsk region Sergei Furgal in July 2020, rallies in his support have been held in Russian cities. Protesters believe that the persecution is due to the fact that Furgal won the gubernatorial elections against the candidate from United Russia, and also because the region showed one of the lowest voting results for amendments to the Constitution. Furgal is now in custody.
• Mikhail Degtyarev, Furgal’s party member in the LDPR, was appointed acting head of the region in July 2020. In September 2021, Degtyarev won the gubernatorial elections. The media wrote that he is not popular in the region, where he is considered a “Varangian” - sent from the center.
