The prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit on the ban "Spring"

The prosecutor of St. Petersburg Viktor Melnik filed a lawsuit to ban the activities of the Vesna movement. This was reported by the press service of the city department.

The prosecutor's office reported that they revealed signs of extremist activity from the Vesna movement. “It has been established that its activities are aimed at undermining public security and the foundations of the constitutional system of the Russian Federation,” the report said.

According to the prosecutor’s office, “spring” “creates the conditions for destabilizing the social and socio-political situation in the country, forms public opinion on the need to change power” in the Russian Federation. To this end, the movement uses “various political technologies for the impact on the adoption by state authorities”, including rallies “with violation of the law and the application of violence” to security forces.

Melnik asked the city court of St. Petersburg to recognize the “spring” with an extremist organization and prohibit its activities in the Russian Federation. By decision of Melnik, the activities of the movement were suspended before the consideration of the claim. This means that all structures of “spring” in particular are prohibited from organizing rallies, pickets and other public actions, take part in the elections.

In May 2022, a criminal case was opened against the participants in Vesna under an article on the creation of an NPO, encroaching on the rights of citizens (Article 239 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Eight people pass along it, including people who are not in motion. Detained in St. Petersburg in the case of Vesna Evgeny Zateev and Valentin Khoroshenin, on September 30, extended the ban on certain actions until December 11.
