The German authorities consider closed the issue of reparations to Poland for World War II. This was reported by Reuters, said German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock after talks with Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau.

“The question of reparations, as you know, is closed from the point of view of the German authorities,” Burbock said during a joint ministerial press conference in Warsaw.

At the same time, the head of the German Foreign Ministry noted that the pain caused by Germany during the Second World War "is passed on from generation to generation."

In turn, Rau expressed the hope that Germany's position will change.

• In 1953, the Polish authorities refused war reparations to Germany, which at that time was divided into the FRG and the GDR. On September 1, 2022, on the 83rd anniversary of the German invasion of Poland, the ruling Polish Law and Justice Party presented a report on the country's losses in World War II. It has been prepared for the last four years. The head of the party, Jarosław Kaczynski , said that the damage that Germany caused to Poland amounted to 6.2 trillion złoty ($1.3 trillion).
