A court in Crimea extended preventive measures for six Crimean Tatars in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case

The Kiev District Court of Simferopol extended until January 10, 2023 the preventive measure for six Crimean Tatars in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case. This was reported by Krym.Realii.

The court extended house arrest for Seityaga Abbozov, and extended the term of detention in pre-trial detention center for Vilen Temeryanov, Enver Krosh, Murat Mustafayev, Edem Bekirov and Renat Aliyev until January 10.

It also became known that Krosh was placed in the Crimean Republican Psychiatric Hospital No. 1 named after N.I. Balaban at the request of the FSB for a psychiatric examination.

The criminal case against six Crimean Tatars became known on August 11. Security forces conducted searches in the homes of activists in connection with a criminal case brought against them for organizing or participating in the activities of a terrorist organization (Part 1 and Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code).

At the same time, according to the publication "Grati", torture was used against Krosh - this happened during an escort from the north of Crimea to Simferopol

On October 20, the Supreme Court of Crimea approved the extension of the arrest of Enver Krosh, Edem Bekirov and Renat Aliyev. This was reported by Crimean Solidarity with reference to lawyer Emil Kurbedinov. Now they are all in a psychoneurological clinic to undergo a forensic examination.

• The Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir was recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia. Its participants are accused and sentenced to real terms only on the basis that they met in apartments, read religious literature and recruited new participants. According to the SOVA information and analytical center, the party was unlawfully recognized as terrorist in Russia.
• As of September 16, 2022, at least 337 people are being persecuted in connection with their involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami, of which 27 are wanted. This was reported to OVD-Info by the head of the project “Support for political prisoners. Memorial" Sergei Davidis. At least 227 people were convicted, of which 181 were sentenced to terms of more than ten years in prison. Most of the defendants - 100 people - are from Crimea and Sevastopol. Tatarstan is in second place: at least 80 people from this region are being persecuted due to their involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir. In third place is Bashkortostan (at least 50 people). Human rights activists took into account in these statistics only those persons whose names are known.
