At about six in the morning Moscow time, a truck passing there exploded on the automobile part of the Crimean bridge. The explosion led to the ignition of several tanks with fuel, which were located on the railroad tracks running parallel to the roadway.
As a result of the explosion, two spans of the roadbed collapsed. Immediately after the explosion, road and rail traffic was stopped. Aviation was brought in to put out the burning train.
Nothing is reported about the ownership of the exploded truck and the fate of its driver. At the same time, the telegram channel Mash published a video of her inspection before entering the bridge. The truck driver, according to the traffic police who checked him, was calm, did not arouse suspicion and showed all the documents. The trailer was believed to contain palletized film. It was fully loaded. The car was not taken for X-ray.
Shortly after the explosion, the Ukrainian media, citing their own sources, reported that it was a sabotage organized by the SBU.
The Crimean authorities imposed restrictions on the sale of food and fuel, the abolition of which was announced a few hours later by the governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev.
Also, the Russian authorities announced the organization of a ferry crossing to Kerch and the beginning of restoration work on the bridge on October 8. However, later it turned out that weather conditions did not allow to establish a ferry service on the same day.
Meduza obtained instructions on the “correct” coverage of the explosion on the Crimean Bridge, sent to the Russian state media from the presidential administration.
As follows from the "manual", reporting on what happened should focus on the fact that "the bridge was not destroyed, but only the canvas on the road and railway parts was damaged." It should also be reported that preparations for restoration work have already begun, the Ministry of Transport has launched new logistics routes, and the Kerch ferry has already started working.
Representatives of the Ukrainian authorities at various levels reacted to the explosion. Thus, the following message appeared on the official Twitter of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense: “The Moskva missile cruiser and the Kerch Bridge, two infamous symbols of Russian power in the Ukrainian Crimea, have disappeared. What's next, Russians?
In turn, Secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov tweeted a video of the burning Crimean bridge combined with the famous recording of Marilyn Monroe performing the song “Happy birthday, mister President”. The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin turned 70 years old.
