The Danish island of Bornholm, located near the Nord Stream gas pipelines, was cut off from power

The Danish island of Bornholm, located near the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, was left without electricity. This was reported by TV2 with reference to the press secretary of the utility company Trefor .

At 07:49 local time, all electricity was cut off on the island. It is still unclear what caused the blackout. At the time of writing, only a third of the island had been able to restore power.

At the end of September, four gas leaks occurred on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 lines, which only stopped by October 2. The explosions took place in areas belonging to Denmark and Sweden.

Sources of the German publication Der Tagesspiegel claimed that the cause of the explosions was sabotage, which could have been carried out by both Russia and Ukraine. The head of the SVR, Sergei Naryshkin , said that Moscow has “materials that indicate a Western trace” in the destruction of gas pipelines, and Vladimir Putin accused the “Anglo-Saxons” of destroying the pipelines.

The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was built parallel to Nord Stream 1 in 2021, but it was never launched, although gas reserves were stored there. After Russia recognized the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR and the outbreak of war in Ukraine, gas supplies through Nord Stream 1 were reduced, and Germany stopped certifying the gas pipeline. As a result, Russia completely stopped supplying gas through pipelines due to problems with the turbine.
