The French Danone, which continued to manufacture baby food and dairy products in Russia (Prostokvashino, Activia), announced its withdrawal from the Russian market, the transfer of control in the business and the write-off of 1 billion euros. The EDP Russia division, which gave Danone 5% of sales in the first nine months of this year, will be deconsolidated after the transfer. Who will receive the assets, the company did not specify.
Danone is one of the world's largest manufacturers of dairy products and other food products. The company has been operating in Russia since 1992, producing products under the brands Danone, Prostokvashino, Activia, Actimel, Rastishka, etc.
In early March, the company announced that it was not going to leave the Russian market, but a few days later announced that it would suspend all investment projects in Russia, retaining only the production of dairy products and baby food.
In April, Reuters, citing sources , wrote that Danone is still considering leaving the Russian market due to new sanctions announced after the publication of photos from Bucha. The company denied this.
