The Kursk Region Administration has called on heads of district centers to prepare trenches in case of shelling

The head of the regional security committee of the Kursk region, Mikhail Gorbunov, announced the need to build shelters in case of shelling in rural settlements and district centers. A recording of the operational meeting was published on the regional administration's VKontakte page.

"As for the areas where people visit first aid posts , post offices, banks, shops, they don't have basements there. Shelters should be set up nearby. A basic shelter is a dug trench. Set them up. We've already talked about this. We'll send you samples and photos, but it's not hard to do: put pallets on the bottom, dig it up, set up walls, cover it with sacks so people can take cover. Because our first aid posts are lightweight. Shrapnel will pierce through everything. You won't be able to take cover there," Gorbunov said.

The head of the committee also reported on the work being done to clear "deepened areas of underground space." According to him, up to one and a half million people could be hiding in basements and similar areas in the Kursk region.

In addition, Governor Roman Starovoit reported on increased control on the main highways and in the border areas of the region, including increased security measures in the city of Kurchatov, where the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant is located.

"The shells hit a previously burned-down residential building, the rest of the strikes hit vegetable gardens," he said. As a result of the shelling, a local resident was injured - glass fragments hit her in the face.
• On October 23, Starovoit reported that the construction of two reinforced lines of defense had been completed in the region. They were created jointly with the Russian Defense Ministry and the FSB Border Department for the Kursk Region. According to the governor, a third line of defense will appear in the region by November 5. A day earlier, Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported on the start of construction of defensive structures made of concrete blocks in the region. Wagner PMC is deploying similar fortifications in the annexed Luhansk Region.
