A picketer who spoke out in support of Navalny was fined 300 thousand rubles and detained again

The Tverskoy Court of Moscow fined Margarita Vaseva, who held a picket with a poster “I/WE Navalny” on Manezhnaya Square, 300 thousand rubles. OVD-Info was informed about this by activist Evgeniy Kurakin near Moscow.

Vaseva was found guilty under the article on repeated violation of the rules of participation in rallies (Part 8 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code).

The picketer was detained on October 23 at the monument to Marshal Zhukov on Manezhnaya Square. Initially it was reported that she was being taken to the Kitay-Gorod OP. When Evgeny Kurakin arrived at this department, police officers told him that his client had not been taken there at all. At night he could not find the detainee, only in the morning the police told him that they were taking the girl to court.

21:18 After the trial, Margarita Vaseva was again detained by the police and taken to the Kitay-gorod police station. There two more protocols were drawn up against her: under articles about repeated violation of the rules of participation in rallies (Part 8 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code) and discrediting the Russian army (Article 20.3.3 of the Administrative Code). She was detained overnight until the trial. Defenders from OVD-Info Evgeny Kurakin and Timofey Vaskin came to the girl at the police department.

Vaseva was charged with participating in a rally on the night of October 23, during which several people shouted “No to war! Damn Putin! Freedom for Ukraine! Vaseva and two other people were then detained and released a few hours later with reports of petty hooliganism (Article 20.1 of the Administrative Code). As Kurakin said, the police inspector said that in the morning she read the OVD-Info publication about Vaseva’s arrest at the rally and decided to re-detain her and draw up new protocols.
