Russians have issued a record number of international passports over the past four years

For three quarters of this year, Russians received almost 3.9 million foreign passports. This figure was the highest since 2018. Then, from January to September, more than 4.2 million documents were issued. Such data are provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

So, in the first nine months of 2022, Russians issued one million more foreign passports than in the same period last year.

Least of all Russians issued a foreign passport in 2020 and 2021. This was affected by the coronavirus pandemic and the restrictive measures introduced in connection with it.

In 2021, 2.8 million foreign passports were issued. In 2020 - 2.2 million, and in 2019 - more than 3.7 million.
