The Tomsk administration refused to allow a local resident to approve a rally in support of direct mayoral elections - while the man filed the necessary notices of the rally seven times, suggesting different places and dates for holding a public event. This is reported by the telegram channel "Street Velvet".

After each notification, the administration refused to approve the action, offering only one place for it - a site near the Regional Palace of Folk Art, which is located far from the city center.

The officials explained the requirement to move the place of the action by the fact that agreed-upon events are already being held at all the venues proposed by the organizer on the required dates. The authorities also noted that if an unauthorized rally is held, it will be immediately terminated, and the organizer and other participants will be held accountable.

• On October 27, the mayor's office of the Tomsk region canceled the direct elections of the mayor of the city, which had been held since 1996.
