CNN: Kanye West wanted to name one of his albums after Hitler

American rapper Kanye West (who officially changed his name to Ye) wanted to name his 2018 album "Hitler" and eventually called it "Ye," four sources told CNN.

Why West changed his plans for the name, they don't know.

A person who previously worked with West and left after complaining about a hostile workplace environment said the rapper talked about reading Hitler's "Mein Kampf" and admired the way Nazi Germany used propaganda.

"He was praising Hitler, saying how incredible it was that he was able to concentrate so much power in his hands, and talking about all the great things that he and the Nazi party had accomplished for the German people," the source told CNN, adding that West's inner circle knew of his interest in Hitler.

A few weeks ago, former TMZ journalist Van Lathan, who criticized West in 2018 for his comments in an interview with TMZ that 400 years of slavery in the United States was a "choice" for black people, claimed that West mentioned Hitler then too.

"He said something like, 'I love Hitler, I love the Nazis.' Something like that, when he was there. And they took that out of the interview for some reason. It wasn't my decision," Lathan says.

• Kanye West has been the subject of a series of controversies this fall. In early October, he appeared wearing a “White Lives Matter” T-shirt, a reference to the Black Lives Matter movement. He also implied in an email exchange with rapper Sean Combs that he was controlled by powerful Jews, and tweeted that he was going “into death mode against Jewish people.”
• West was accused of anti-Semitism. Brands Adidas , Balenciaga and the Hollywood agency CAA stopped collaborating with him. Twitter and Instagram imposed restrictions on the rapper's pages. After that, West decided to buy the social network Parler, which is known as a platform for supporters of former US President Donald Trump (West himself expressed support for him).
• Twitter was bought by billionaire Elon Musk this week, after which the social network lifted restrictions on West's account. Musk had previously said that he had expressed "concerns" to the rapper about his comments about Jews on Twitter.
