Transgender woman Alyoshina announced the departure from politics

The head of the Altai branch of the Civil Initiative, the first open transgender woman in Russia, Julia Alyoshina, announced the departure from politics because of the LGBT propaganda bill.

“I have never been engaged in such propaganda, but I can’t imagine how to continue to conduct public political activities, being an open transgender woman,” Alyoshina wrote.

Alyoshina said that the current government repeatedly prevented her from political activity. Alyoshin considers his transgender to the reason for this. She believes that with the adoption of a new discriminatory law, opposition will become even more serious.

“Going into politics, I planned to fight and fought for the rights and freedoms of all citizens, regardless of their nationality, orientation and even political views. But, probably, I was a little ahead of time,” Alyoshina wrote.

After leaving the policy, Alyoshin plans, among other things, to complete the transgender transition.

• Human rights activists sharply criticized the bill even at the stage of its development, noting that it violates the human rights, in particular - members of the LGBT+community.
• The LGBT+ community unites people based on their diverse sexual orientation and gender identity. In Russia, LGBT+ regularly become objects of aggression, to which the authorities actually be incited.
