Starting installation of the NASAMS air defense system
Soldatnyt from Oslo, Norway / Wikipedia
In recent weeks, the nature of the hostilities in Ukraine has once again changed significantly. After the explosion on the Crimean bridge, Russia began to apply air strikes (using cruise missiles and drones) deep into the entire Ukrainian territory. The purpose of the impact is the entire energy system of the country: power plants generating capacities, transformers and substations.
Two weeks of attacks, officials of Ukraine reported the destruction of more than a third of the country's energy facilities. Kyiv expectedly requested help from Western states. Those promised this help. Washington has already announced that Ukraine has already begun the supply of the highest NASAMS air defense system (in fairness, we note that the contract for the manufacture of these complexes for 180 million was signed in the summer). In addition, Reuters reported that the United States intends to supply Ukraine with a certain number of HAWK systems withdrawn from weapons, which have been at storage bases for decades. Germany, in turn, put the battery of the modern IRES-T SL air defense system (in 2023 it is planned to transfer three more batteries). In addition, the media reported that France (Crotale complexes), as well as Italy (ASPide systems removed from weapons) intend to send their air defense systems.
