Two threads of the pipeline with a diameter of 1200 millimeters ran at the collapse site. According to initial data, one of them was damaged.

As a result, a stream of sewage poured into the city. He blurred the local park Pakhmutova, and then began to drain into the Volga through the streets.

The sewage flooded the children's railway, the zero longitudinal highway, the park near the Russia-my story museum and part of the new embankment near the Steamer-Moneline "Gasitel". Local media write that the feces in the puddle were also the inscriptions of Russia and Volgograd, which were on the terrace at the monument.

In the "Water supply concessions" they decided to suspend the supply of water to residents of the Soviet and Voroshilovsky district.

By evening, the prosecutor's office organized an audit and demanded to initiate a criminal case.

“As a result of the accident, the supply of hot and cold water supply was stopped in more than 1100 apartment buildings, 17 thousand private households and a number of social facilities in the territory of the Soviet and Voroshilovsky districts,” the regional prosecutor’s office said .

The media wrote that the locals bought all the bottled water in stores.

On October 29, it turned out that the accident is much more serious than it was originally expected - both pipes of the main sewage system were damaged . In the areas, an emergency regime was introduced.

Only on the third day of the accident, October 30, public utilities were able to determine the place and scale of damage.

“According to preliminary data, on the site where the accident occurred, 150 linear meters of both pipes will have to be changed,” the operational headquarters said .

On the same day, local residents began to complain about turning off heating in houses. Hot lines collapsed.

The Volgograd residents made a collective letter in which they demanded that the guilty in the accident of the city administration and the enterprise of the "concession of water supply" guilty in the accident.

The Volgograd Ministry of Emergencies organized the supply of technical water in tanks. According to the press service of the headquarters, 26 cars began to run in the Soviet and Voroshilovsky district from seven in the morning. On the same day, the governor of the region Andrei Bocharov reached the scene of the accident and instructed to return the water to the houses over the next day and begin a gradual connection of heating.

The governor also admitted that until this day the real state of trunk pipelines and collectors remained a mystery to the authorities and utilities.

“At the first stage, we had problems precisely in determining the place where exactly the sewage drain leak occurred. Considering that the documentation does not correspond completely ... well, nothing corresponds to. And this is today confirmed through the opening directly. The autopsy showed that everything is completely absent, ”he said.

On October 31, the Investigative Committee opened two criminal cases at once - under Part 1 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code (“The performance of work and the provision of services that do not meet the safety requirements of life and health”), as well as under Part 1 of Art. 250 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("water pollution").

The head of Rosprirodnadzor of Russia Svetlana Radionova also spoke about the pollution of the Volga. “Service inspectors and Tslati experts quickly examined the polluted territory and took water and soil samples. According to their results, it will be possible to judge the amount of damage to nature and the measure of punishment for the perpetrators, ”she wrote in Telegram.

By the evening of November 1, having violated the governor's deadline, the city still began to restore water supply.

The administration promised to give water a “thin stream”. The mayor announced that the water supply would begin to turn on gradually.

“According to the adopted plan, we begin the phased filling of the system. The first is the provision of boiler houses, the 7th hospital and-to supply water to the system. The city authorities are afraid of the next emergency that may occur after the water supply. They may not withstand intra -house networks.
