Roskomnadzor demanded that the online educational service Scratch leave only two genders offered to Russian users upon registration: male and female. This was reported by the regulator's press service.

“Earlier, information appeared that the educational service Scratch at the registration stage offers users various gender selection options, including those that do not correspond to Russian traditional values,” the publication says.

In addition, as the press service of Roskomnadzor clarifies, the service was sent a notification about “the redundancy of the data collected, since in Russia men and women have equal rights, including to receive education.”

Scratch is a programming environment for children and teenagers developed by the Media Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
