The UK added to the sanctions list the co-owners of the Evraz metallurgical group Alexander Abramov and Alexander Frolov, as well as the general director of Tatavtodor Airat Shaimiev and the head of the TAIF oil company Albert Shigabutdinov. This is stated on the website of the government of the kingdom.
The report notes that all of them “allowed Putin to mobilize industry for military action.”
The British government calls Abramov and Frolov business partners of another co-owner of Evraz, Roman Abramovich. After the kingdom imposed sanctions against Abramovich, they resigned from the company's board of directors. According to the country's authorities, Abramov and Frolov invested 100 million pounds sterling in British real estate.
Airat Shaimiev is the son of the first president of Tatarstan, Mintimer Shaimiev. Sanctions were imposed against him and the owner of the Tatarstan oil company TAIF for conducting business in sectors “of strategic importance for the Russian government.”
All four had their assets in the UK frozen and banned from visiting the kingdom.
At the end of September, the UK imposed sanctions against the head of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina , family members of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, businessman God Nisanov , employees of Sberbank, Gazprombank and Otkritie Bank.
