Russia, Ukraine swap 107 prisoners each

Head of the Ukrainian president’s office Andriy Yermak and the Russian Defence Ministry announced another prisoner swap exchanging 214 people in total, 107 each.

“On 3 November, talks yielded results, and 107 Russian servicemembers returned from the territory controlled by the Kyiv regime. They were facing grave danger in captivity,” the ministry noted.

According to Yermak, six officers and 101 privates and sergeants returned to Ukraine. He added that 74 of them were defending the Azovstal plant.

“We brought home many of those who were injured in fighting. In particular, we managed to swap severely injured and bedridden ones from Mariupol, the Azovstal plant, those with shrapnel wounds in arms and legs, gunshot wounds. There are people with amputated limbs and burns, those who can’t feel parts of their faces and have infected wounds. There is also a fighter who was injured in the Olenivka prison explosion,” Yermak wrote.

Earlier today, head of the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin announced a 107-for-107 prisoner swap.

Moscow and Kyiv last carried out a swap of servicemembers last week, 29 October. Then, each side returned 50 prisoners home.
