Journalists confirmed that almost nine thousand Russian military personnel were killed in Ukraine. More than 150 of them are mobilized - “Mediazona” and the BBC Russian Service

Journalists from Mediazona and the BBC Russian Service, using open sources, as of November 11, confirmed the death of 8,712 Russian servicemen who went to war in Ukraine.

“We assume that our list may contain at least 40-60% fewer names of the dead than actually buried in Russia,” the journalists point out.

According to the BBC Russian Service, 163 mobilized were among the dead. 35 of them died in Russia before they were sent to the front. The main causes of death of those mobilized in military units, according to the publication, were heart disease, accidents and alcohol. Journalists also confirmed the death of 47 prisoners.

According to the types of troops, motorized riflemen suffered the greatest losses - 1603 people, paratroopers - 1295 people, volunteers - 949 people. Most of the dead are in the Krasnodar Territory - 365 people, Dagestan - 338 people, Buryatia - 332 people.

“In almost every one of them (regional cemeteries - Approx. “Cold”), we find not only the burial places of those whose death was publicly reported, but also about the same (and sometimes more) tombstones of soldiers and officers whose death was not reported neither the authorities, nor local journalists, nor relatives in social networks,” the publication says.
