A North Ossetian journalist was fined because of an Instagram post and two interviews about mobilization

The Industrial District Court of Vladikavkaz fined journalist Ruslan Totrov 50 thousand rubles for publications about mobilization in the North Caucasus. This was reported by the publication “Osnova. News ".

Totrov reported to the Caucasian Knot that three protocols on “discrediting” the army were drawn up against him (Article 20.3.3 of the Administrative Code). The first is related to material the New York Times about protests against mobilization, for which the journalist provided commentary, the second is related to his interview with the Echo of the Caucasus publication. The third protocol, according to Totrov, was drawn up because of an Instagram post published on September 25. Probably, we are talking about a publication with a fragment of his comment to the New York Times and an image of Putin in the form of a caricature of the Soviet poster “The Motherland is Calling” and the inscription “General Mobilization. All for slaughter!

The journalist believes that the decision made is “the forerunner of criminal prosecution.” In his opinion, the security forces are trying to prevent him from returning to Russia, which he left in June last year.

Totrov also called the decision “illegitimate”, made “without any linguistic examination” and an attempt to conduct a fair trial.
