The Sverdlovsk Regional Court, due to the lack of corpus delicti, acquitted the former security guard of the Yeltsin Center, Alexander Vasiliev, who added eyes to the figures in the painting “Three Figures” by Malevich’s student Anna Leporskaya.
Earlier, the Verkh-Isetsky Court of Yekaterinburg sentenced him to 180 hours of compulsory work, and also prescribed him treatment by a psychiatrist, but Vasiliev's defense appealed the verdict.
On December 7, 2021, visitors to the Yeltsin Center discovered that eyes had been added to the figures in the painting with a ballpoint pen. The damage was estimated at 250 thousand rubles, later Vasiliev paid compensation.
