Musk unblocked Trump's Twitter account

Elon Musk has restored access to Donald Trump's Twitter account. The new owner of the social network made such a decision based on the results of a survey in which 52 percent of the 15 million participants were in favor of unblocking the account of the former US president.

“People have voted. Trump will be reinstated. Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” Musk wrote on his page.

Less than an hour after Trump's account became active, the number of subscribers grew from just over 500 thousand to a million, and a few hours later it exceeded 25 million. At the same time, Donald Trump himself said that he was not going to return to the social network.

“I see no reason for this,” said the former US president.

Trump added that he would continue to use the Truth Social app launched by one of his startups.

Donald Trump's Twitter account was "permanently" banned in 2021 after the riots in Washington and the storming of the Capitol, which was staged by his supporters. Then the leadership of the social network explained the blocking by the fact that there is a “risk of further incitement to violence.” Trump had nearly 90 million followers at the time.

Trump then called the blocking of his account "a complete disgrace" for the United States. The former American leader emphasized that he had lost his freedom of speech because "radical leftists are afraid of the truth."
