The European Parliament recognized Russia to the sponsor of terrorism

The European Parliament adopted a resolution on the recognition of Russia by the country - a sponsor of terrorism. The deputies said they are preparing the ground for attracting President Vladimir Putin and his government to the international tribunal.

494 deputies voted for her, 44 abstained, 58 voted against. The resolution does not oblige European countries to action and has symbolic significance.

"Regular attacks and atrocities committed by the Russian Federation against the civilian population of Ukraine, the destruction of civil infrastructure and other serious violations of international humanitarian law are equated with acts of terror against the population of Ukraine and constitute war crimes," the text of the document says.

Russia is recognized in it by a country using terrorism methods during the war. The European Parliament called for the development of new legislation that would allow entire states to put whole states in the list of terrorists.

Now only organizations and individuals can be added to the EU terrorist list . There are, for example, Hamas and the Kurdistan working party - only 13 people and 21 organizations. To add Russia to the list, it will be necessary to vote EU countries.

All these countries and organizations have already adopted the relevant resolutions. The US administration in October stated that they were not ready to support Russia's recognition by the sponsor of terrorism, since the White House believes that this would completely stop the possibilities of cooperation with Russia in critical areas. French President Emmanuel Macron also previously spoke out against this.
