Patriotic feelings hurt

On November 15, Alexander, a seventh grade student of Lyceum No. 1 of the city of Kostomuksha, came to a biology lesson. That day, he decided to wear a red hoodie with an American flag on it. Parents bought it for the boy during a trip to Finland long before the start of the war in Ukraine.

The schoolboy, as usual, sat down on the first desk and got ready for the lesson. The teacher Galina Kutsina, upon entering the classroom, first of all drew attention to the image with the symbols of the “unfriendly” country for Russia. In order not to see the print on the hoodie, she decided to seat the child with her back to the board. Thus, Alexander, according to his father Alexei Kulikov, sat for about ten minutes while he told his homework.

Arriving home, the boy told his parents everything and was very worried that because of this incident, the teacher would begin to underestimate his grades. The parents of the student, despite the fact that this can really happen, nevertheless decided to seek a public apology.

“On Thursday (November 17. — Approx. “Cold”) we had a conversation with a teacher in the director’s office. My wife and I asked that no penalties be applied to her, that they not deprive her of the bonus, but that she publicly apologized to the whole class, ”the schoolboy’s father, Alexei Kulikov, told Kholod.

“I thought this matter would be closed. My wife and I asked our son that after the teacher apologized, he also got up and apologized, ”said Kulikov. He suggests that, apparently, a certain dress code of the lyceum could have been violated. “Or maybe some patriotic feelings of the teacher were hurt. But since there was no apology from her, the son did not apologize either, ”says Kulikov.

The Americans did it all

It is clear that she broke, I understand that the teacher behaved incorrectly, ”the director of the lyceum commented on the incident.

According to the father of the injured student, Kutsina earlier in the classroom, in a conversation with students, claimed that she was the school teacher of Vladimir Zelensky, and called the President of Ukraine "stupid".

Didn't take any action

Apologize, as decided at a meeting with the leadership of the school, Galina Kutsina was supposed to last Friday, but for some reason decided not to do this. And now she completely denies that she put the seventh grader with his back to the blackboard.

“She insists that she did not take any measures in relation to her son and did not tell him to turn his back on the board. She simply denies that she did it: that she told him to turn his back so as not to see the symbolism of the American flag, that my son was reciting biology material with his back. She denies it and asks, "Why don't you believe me?" But why should I trust her and not my son?” Kulikov is indignant.

The student's parents asked the school management to hold another meeting with Kutsina. It was supposed to take place on Tuesday, November 22, but the director of the lyceum and the teacher refused to meet with the parents without Antonina Lankina, head of the education department of Kostomuksha, who is now on a business trip.

Protect the rights of the son

According to Kulikov, the incident quickly became interesting not only in Russia, but also abroad. After the post on social networks, both Russian publications and foreign journalists, for example, from Norway, Finland and the USA, called my father. After that, in the Kostomuksha chat on VKontakte, some parents of Alexander's classmates began to accuse his father of cowardice and betrayal.

“They started writing to me on VKontakte: why aren’t you at the forefront? And why are you almost "under the skirt"? I answered them that I did not get into the first wave of mobilization. I am a conscript, and if they call me, then, of course, I will go to defend, I will not evade. But while I am here, I will protect the rights and interests of my son, my child. I believe that this issue could have been resolved in a different way, and not in the way the teacher acted in this situation, ”said Kulikov.
