Those involved in the Mayakov Readings case have their arrest extended for a month

The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow extended the arrest of the defendants in the Mayakov Readings case, Artem Kamardin, Nikolai Daineko and Yegor Shtovbe, for a month. They will remain in pre-trial detention until at least December 25. SOTA writes about this.

Kamardin, Daineko and Shtovba are defendants in the case under the article on inciting hatred with the threat of violence (clause “a”, part 2 of article 282 of the Criminal Code). On October 7, Kamardin was charged. The activist is charged with humiliating the dignity of “militiamen who took part in hostilities in the LPR and DPR” and calling for violence against them because of the poem “Kill me, militiaman,” which he read at the Mayakov Readings on September 25. A similar charge was brought against Daineko on October 6.

On September 28, the Tverskoy District Court chose Kamardina, Daineko and Shtovbe as a preventive measure in the form of detention. On November 21, Kamardin was sent for a month for a psychiatric examination to the Serbsky Center.

On December 26, the Moscow City Court approved the extension of the preventive measure for Artem Kamardin and Yegor Shtovba. This was reported in the telegram channel supporting those involved in the case.

• On September 26, security forcescame to Kamardin’s home, where his girlfriend Alexandra Popova and activist Alexei Menyukov were also present. Later, Novaya Gazeta. Europe”, citing a defense lawyer, reported that Kamardin was severely beaten and “they shoved a dumbbell into his anus.” Popova also talked about being tortured.
• Nikolai Daineko was detained during the Mayakov Readings, a protocol was drawn up against him regarding participation in an uncoordinated action (Part 5 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offences) and was released at night. The next day, the Shcherbinsky District Court fined him 20 thousand rubles, and immediately after the meeting, Daineko was again detained and taken to the Investigative Committee.
• “Mayakov Readings” are street poetry evenings that were held on the last Sunday of every month from April to October. In Moscow, the action was organized near the monument to Vladimir Mayakovsky on Triumfalnaya Square. The participants declared the readings on September 25 “anti-mobilization.”
