The beginning of December will be frosty and almost snowless, and in the second half of the month the temperature can rise to zero. “Paper” talked with the main weather forecaster of the city Alexander Kolesov and found out what to expect Petersburgers in the coming days, how the weather will change in the second half of December and whether snowfall will come to St. Petersburg.
- In the near future there will be no severe frosts: the temperature will be in the area –5 ... –10 degrees. Also, ice or abundant snowfalls are not expected. Precipitation will fall by December 3-4, but it will be only 1-3 centimeters of snow.
The first half of December will determine the cold anticyclone, in the second half everything can change and the temperature will rise to zero, but there will be no plus.
2022 in temperature repeats the past - hot summer and cold September, only November is knocked out. Therefore, we expect ordinary cold December. The temperature is unlikely to drop to –30, such anomalies were the last time in the 1970s.
It is impossible to make forecasts at the end of the month now - mankind has no such knowledge and opportunities. The most accurate forecast is made for one day, also computers well calculate the temperature for a week. But the farther the date, the less the success of the forecast, since it is impossible to take into account the fluctuations of cyclones.
When forecasting, we look at the weather map, we are looking for what is happening in the neighboring territories, and we analyze how this weather will come to us. The atmosphere is often unstable, because of which it is difficult to make the forecast further.
For example, no one predicted an abnormally hot August of this year or, conversely, a very cold September.
November 2022 was predicted warm. Its first half was abnormally hot: for four days in a row, records beat. However, the second half turned out to be very cold, then the temperature was on average –4.9 degrees. Because of which the average value dropped to the indicator just below the norm: +0.5 degrees.
Last month, precipitation fell 24 days, and the sun shone only 8.4 hours.
