Super short about the results of the group stage
According to the results of the matches on December 2, the last two places in the playoffs were received by South Korea and Switzerland. The Koreans defeated Portugal, for which this match had no tournament value (2:1), and the Swiss defeated Serbia (3:2).
In total, 16 teams (out of 32) will continue to fight in the playoffs. Two favorites, Germany and Belgium, who were eliminated after the group stage, were not included in their number.
Unexpectedly, Australia, Senegal, Japan and Morocco got into the 1/8. Moreover, Japan and Morocco took first place in their groups.
There have already been six goalless draws at the World Cup (there was only one in the entire 2018 World Cup). To repeat the record, you need another one.
Most goals were scored in the match England - Iran (6:2). The biggest victory was won by Spain over Costa Rica (7:0).
None of the teams managed to win all three matches in their group. This has happened for the first time since 1994.
Matches of the 1/8 finals will be held from December 3 to 6, two matches a day (at 18:00 and at 22:00 Moscow time). The full schedule can be viewed here .
