The court recognized the youth movement "Spring" as "extremist". This was reported by the human rights organization "First Department".
The Vesna movement was founded in 2013 in St. Petersburg, and later it appeared in other Russian regions. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Viasna activists have been participating in anti-war actions.
In May of this year, a case was opened against the leaders and participants of the movement on the creation of a non-profit organization that infringes on the personality and rights of citizens. According to investigators, activists of the movement on the Internet called for participation in anti-war actions that took place from February 25 to 27. In total, eight people are involved in the case.
At the end of September, after the announcement of anti-mobilization rallies, some Viasna activists were searched.
On September 30, the St. Petersburg prosecutor's office demanded that the movement be recognized as "extremist."
On October 11, Rosfinmonitoring added Vesna to the list of terrorists and extremists, and on October 14, the movement was recognized as a foreign agent.
