The person involved in the “palace case” had his term of detention in a pre-trial detention center extended

The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow extended the term of detention in a pre-trial detention center until May 25, 2023 for the defendant in the “palace case” Alexey Klimashev. This was reported by Klimashev’s lawyer from OVD-Info, Maxim Ovchinnikov.

The man is charged with using violence against a police officer (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code) during the January protests in support of Navalny in 2021. Klimashev was detained on March 30, 2022. Initially, he was interrogated as a witness in a similar case, after which a case was opened against him.

In April 2022, Klimashev was placed in a pre-trial detention center. At the end of November, his case went to court.

• After the arrest of politician Alexei Navalny in January 2021, a series of protests took place throughout Russia, mass protests took place on Saturday January 23, Sunday January 31 and February 2 (the day Navalny’s suspended sentence was replaced with a real one).
