Since 2014, after the Euromaidan and the occupation by Russia of Crimea and the parts of Donbass, the Ukrainian society began to abandon the wilting artists of the Russian “Blue Light”, who had recently spoke to the fan base at concerts not yet presidential “95 quarter”. They were replaced by domestic performers.

Over the past eight years, many young musicians have been guided by the audience of the post -Soviet space, so songs with multimillion -dollar auditions often came out in Russian (with some exceptions, including, for example, songs of the Kazka group Kazka is a Ukrainian group performing pop music with elements of an electric log. At the same time, the listener left in his playlist the musicians of the new school from the Russian Federation, compensating for the genre deficiencies of the Ukrainian stage.

After a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukrainian music, a revolution occurred. The Russian language has almost disappeared from the songs, and the topic of war and the struggle against the occupation forces became central in the work of young musicians. Performers from the Russian Federation in the tops of the listened are much less common.

Below is a small selection of non -banal Ukrainian performers, who, after the war begun by Russia, gained great popularity among Ukrainians, reflecting folk experiences in their songs.

Sadsvit

Sadsvit (Bogdan Rosvadovsky)-Indi-Pop and Post-Pank Contractor from Ivano-Frankivsk. Despite the eighteen years of age, the artist has already released two albums: Cassette and 20 & 21; As well as two mini-albums-“bustle” and “cold”-recorded together with Sad Novelist.

Sadsvit songs can recall the work of the Kino group with Vokal Viktor Tsoi and the track “At the dawn” of the Alliance group. The performer himself explains that The Cure and Joy Division were inspired, trying to create analogues of the Russian-speaking post-punk, which was previously not in the Ukrainian segment.

After Russia's invasion of Sadsvit, the song “Svitanok” (dawn), telling about a peaceful morning, which awaits Ukrainians after the end of the won war, was released.

OTOY (Vyacheslav Drof)-rap artist from Lviv. Even before the full -scale invasion, Otoy was popular with the Ukrainian listener, recorded joint tracks with famous musicians and received high grades of his work.

The album combines an aggressive appeal to the Russian enemy, appropriately supplemented by guitar and drum parties (“Eneemi”), as well as lyrical monologues about the new military realities of Ukrainians (“the incentive of Novye”).

In an interview with Babel, Otoy says : his cousin Dmitry went to defend his native Mariupol back in 2014. At that time, for Otoy, according to him, the war was limited to counter-strip. Dmitry moved to Mariupol, joined Azov and started a family. After a full -scale invasion, the brother’s family left the occupied Mariupol through the Russian Federation, Belarus and Poland, deceiving the “military” “DPR” at filtration events. The connection with Dmitry disappeared on April 15, when the bridge under the armored personnel carrier, on which the defender of Mariupol erupted into Azovstal, was undermined and military equipment, along with the military, collapsed into the water. Military topics today are popular with Ukrainian artists and audiences. The consequences of the Russian invasion and terror are reflected in songs. The performer of Positiff, a former member of the Time and Glass group, recorded the track “Nothing Personal”, in which he turned to citizens of the aggressor state, conveying the attitude of Ukrainians to the Russian Federation and demonstrating the illusory of the “Russian world”.
