On Monday morning, December 19, the demolition of a kindergarten on Bolshaya Pushkarskaya Street began, this building is located in the neighborhood of Basevich’s house, for the preservation of which Petersburgers are fighting. This is reported by the movement "Cityproof press center".
Details. According to the city defenders, the kindergarten building is located inside the square, which does not have the status of green general use. This made it possible to start the demolition of the building.
Citizens suggest that after the demolition of the kindergarten they will begin to dismantle Basevich’s house.
“The destruction of the kindergarten on Bolshaya Pushkarskaya 9 for the sake of the semi-empty Aitman Academy looks particularly cynical, given that the Petrograd side is catastrophically lacking gardens with their own fenced playgrounds and green zones,” they write in the “city protection press center”.
Why the demolition began. On December 16, the status of material evidence was removed from the house of Basevich. He was allowed to reconstruct.
So far, the developer cannot begin the reconstruction, which includes the analysis of the roof and brick walls to the fifth floor, due to bailiff measures for preliminary protection against the building. They act, as city defenders dispute the conclusion of the KGIOP about the possibility of reconstruction of the house.
What you need to know. "Paper" told the details of the conflict around the Basevich house. They plan to reconstruct the building under the hostel of the Dance Academy Boris Eifman and the Academic Ballet Theater. Garbonical defenders actively opposed the demolition.
Basevich’s house survived three fires in May 2021 and another in 2020. Activists associated the fires with an attempt to put pressure on those who were fighting for the preservation of the house, and sent statements about the crime to the Investigative Committee and the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in St. Petersburg.
In October, the Investigative Committee banned Basevich’s house and recognized the building with material evidence in the criminal case against KGIOP officials. According to investigators, they issued conclusions according to which historical buildings were not on the territory of cultural heritage.
