In October, the inhabitants of the Buryat village on the shores of Lake Baikal talked about the fact that a black spot appeared on the surface of the lake. Their relative turned to the Ministry of Natural Resources, Rosprirodnadzor, UNESCO and Greenpeace. “Such things” publish a small memo about what everyone can do to preserve Lake Baikal.

Not only people who are near the lake can help save Baikal, but also those who live very far from it and cannot come to the coastal territory.
What can tourists do in order to help keep Baikal:
- collect garbage and take it with you;
- economically cook food and instill it in specially created places for this;
- Wash and wash things in special places so that wastewater does not fall directly into the lake, but filtered through the ground;
- walk along the already trodden paths, do not make new ones;
- take care of plants, do not tear them off;
- Do not chop or break shrubs and trees.
What can all people who want to help keep Baikal do:
- to issue a regular donation in favor of the My Baikal Foundation, which is engaged in the preservation of the lake;
- To arrange a regular donation to the Lake Baikal Foundation. The organization is engaged in the support of applied environmental developments and research aimed at preserving the Baikal natural territory and contributing to its development;
- Sign a petition , the creators of which require the return of the previous boundaries of the Baikal water protection zone.
