The US authorities have confirmed that PMC Wagner received a shipment of weapons from the DPRK. This is reported by Reuters, citing a senior US official.
“We can confirm that North Korea has completed the initial delivery of weapons to Wagner, which paid for the equipment. Last month, North Korea supplied missiles and shells to Russia for use by Wagner, the source said.
According to the United States, based on intelligence data, the weapons supplied by North Korea will not change the situation on the battlefield in Ukraine. However, the US authorities are concerned that the DPRK plans to supply Wagner PMC with more military equipment, Reuters notes.
In November, US officials said North Korea was secretly supplying Russia with a "significant" amount of artillery shells for the war in Ukraine. According to the US, the DPRK tried to hide the supplies by sending them through the countries of the Middle East and North Africa.
