The Ministry of Education approved a new school curriculum

According to Mediazona, the programs began to be developed in the fall after the State Duma adopted a law on “uniform standards for the study of humanitarian subjects.” All innovations will become mandatory for schools from the next academic year.

The Russian history course for high school students included the “coup d’etat in Ukraine of 2014,” “the reunification of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia,” as well as lessons about the Northern Military District and the subsequent “sanctions of the United States and its allies.”

During life safety, students in grades 10-11 will have to undergo “elements of initial military training,” which includes the rules of shooting from a Kalashnikov AK-74 assault rifle, the principles of operation of hand grenades and the procedure for providing first aid in combat.

In addition, in the same subject, schoolchildren will study “the basics of countering extremism and terrorism.” Teachers should tell children about the provided criminal penalties for extremism, “destructive youth subcultures and extremist associations,” “radical right-wing groups of Nazi orientation” and “radical left communities.”

The following items were also added to the life safety program: rules for riding electric scooters and unicycles, “how to avoid becoming a victim of an information war” and “the dangers of modern youth entertainment,” which includes hooking, roofing, diggering, parkour, selfies and “flash mobs of an antisocial nature.”
