A criminal investigation officer in civilian clothes came to the parents of activist and Perm Higher School of Economics student Vladislav Maksimov and tried to find out the address and telephone number of their son. The policeman wanted to “talk” with Maksimov about his arrest at an anti-war rally in March and about “extremism.” Now he and his parents are threatened with a summons for questioning, said a DOXA activist.
Maksimov leads the VK public for students and graduates of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of the Perm State University Mechmat Community . In it he published, among other things, anti-war posts.
Now Maksimov is a second-year master’s student at the Perm Higher School of Economics “Digital Methods in the Humanities.” In early October, its leader Dinara Gagarina was suspended due to anti-war statements on social networks. The university administration also planned to close the master's program itself, but students managed to save it.
On December 27, the Higher School of Economics dismissed Gagarina from the last position she held. Earlier in early December, Gagarina was fired from her post as a teacher.
Since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine on February 24, at least 27 teachers have been fired or resigned from Russian universities for political reasons. Students were also expelled from universities en masse. DOXA has collected this data in a material.
