In Crimea, police issued warnings to several Crimean Tatars

In Crimea, policemen came to four Crimean Tatars, some of them were given warnings about the inadmissibility of violating the law. It is reported by "Crimean solidarity".

Residents of the Nizhnegorsk region Ebazer Islyamov and Eskender Dzhelyalov, who had previously drawn up protocols because of their civic position, Elmaz Akimova, a citizen journalist from the Simferopol region, and Seitosman Karaliyev, a public defender from Sudak, reported about the visit of the security forces.

Three of them were given "official warnings". According to them, preventive conversations were held with the Crimean Tatars about the prevention of legislation and the possibility of bringing them to justice. In particular, the document highlights an article on disobedience to the police (Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).

Akimova said she was not given warnings, but officers checked to see if her address was valid. Together with a policeman, an employee of the Center “E” came to her, who said that he was “following the order of the leadership to check the place of residence of some people.” The woman was surprised by the visit, as the police usually come to the activists before the dates of possible mass gatherings - the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Deportation or the Day of the Crimean Tatar Flag.

Seitosman Karaliyev believes that "another planned action of intimidation" is taking place. He connects it with the fact that the Crimean Tatars support the Crimean political prisoners. “This is not the first time. And many of the police officers who live in our city have already come to me, so we have talked with many of them on this topic more than once. Therefore, our conversation today was short-lived,” Karaliyev commented.
