FT releases forecasts for 2023

The Financial Times has released its authors' forecasts for 2023. Among other things, they believe that the war in Ukraine will continue throughout the year, Europe could face rolling blackouts in case of cold weather until April, the Fed will not cut interest rates, and China can restore economic growth above 5%.

Below are a few FT predictions for 2023:

The war in Ukraine will last all year. Neither Kyiv nor Moscow will agree to freeze the conflict.
Until April, Europe could face rolling blackouts if the weather stays cold. It will be difficult to replenish underground gas storage facilities in the spring.
The growth of global warming will not exceed 1.5 degrees by the end of 2023, but it can do so in 2024.
The Fed will not start cutting interest rates. By the end of 2023, they could be 5% or even higher.
Rishi Sunak will remain as British Prime Minister. It will be easier for him than his predecessors Boris Johnson and Liz Truss, but the pressure will rise.
The ECB will not support the bond markets of Italy or other EU countries. Further growth of the key interest rate is expected.
Joe Biden will run for president again. The FT calls him possibly the best Democratic candidate to "hold on to the White House."
Donald Trump is likely to face new charges for his supporters' attempt to storm the Capitol in January 2020 or for keeping classified documents in a personal residence.
China will be able to restore economic growth above 5%.
Beijing will not attack Taiwan or blockade the island.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan will retain the presidency of Turkey following the June 2023 elections.

The newspaper notes that at the end of 2022, only five forecasts of the authors did not come true - regarding the possibility of avoiding a war in Ukraine, falling Tesla shares, etc.
