Strong snowfalls return to Petersburg

In St. Petersburg on January 3, heavy snow is expected in places. The Ministry of Emergencies in St. Petersburg warns about the deterioration of weather conditions.

On January 3, the chief weather forecast of the city Alexander Kolesov writes about the expected precipitation in St. Petersburg. The snow will bring the Magdalene cyclone. Kolesov reports that heavy snow has already passed in the south and southwest of the Leningrad region, and in St. Petersburg by the evening "it will be beautiful in the day."

A hydrometeorological center warns about snowfall. At the same time, on January 3, St. Petersburg will be relatively warm: the temperature should not drop below −2 degrees during the day.

However, in the following days of holidays, the temperature will decrease. The coldest day is expected on Saturday, January 7, when weather forecasters expect up to −17 degrees in the afternoon. On the night of January 8, the temperature may drop to −20 degrees.

As Kolesov notes, severe frosts will come to the entire territory of the Leningrad region, and in the east the temperature can be from −20 to −25 degrees.
