"Everything is destroyed, there is almost no life left." Vladimir Zelensky - About the battles for soledar

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in a video message, following the results of the 320th day of the war, called the situation in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions the “hottest” at the front.

The battle for the Donbass continues. And although the invaders have now concentrated their greatest efforts on Soledar, it is still the result of this difficult and long battle will be the liberation of our entire Donbass.

I thank all our warriors who protect our Bakhmut and show maximum resistance! Thanks to all the fighters in Soledar, who withstand new and even more tough assault on the invaders! This is very difficult - there are almost no walls left there ... Thanks to the stamina of our warriors there, in Soledar, we won additional time and additional forces for Ukraine.

And what did Russia want to win there? Everything is completely destroyed, there is almost no life left. And thousands of their people are lost: the whole earth near Soledar in the corpses of the invaders and in the scars from the blows. This is how madness looks.

Earlier on January 9, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Maryar said that the assault groups formed from the “best reserves” of the Wagner PMC began “powerful assault” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Soledar. On January 6 and 7, the Wagner PMC fighters broke through the defense of the Ukrainian army around the Soledar, after which the Ukrainian forces managed to stabilize the front line.
