The Dutch media regulator has granted Dozhd TV a permit for commercial television broadcasting.
The regulator's website reports that the decision was made on December 22, 2022. The media only paid attention to this now after Artem Konokhov, a correspondent for Latvian Radio in Brussels , reported on it. Dozhd has not yet commented on this.
Update. The channel has confirmed that it has received a European broadcasting license in the Netherlands. Dozhd will move its editorial center to Amsterdam. The channel's studio in the Netherlands will become its main one as soon as Dozhd employees receive permission to work in the country. At the same time, the channel continues to challenge the decision of the Latvian media regulator to revoke the license, and also plans to keep the bureau and some employees in Riga.
Permission to broadcast under the Dozhd brand was received by TVR Studios BV, the regulator’s website reports.
Latvian Radio suggested that the license would likely allow Dozhd to distribute its programs on cable television networks in all EU countries, including Latvia.
