The defendant in the case of discrediting the Russian army from Nizhny Novgorod was charged with new charges

Photographer and teacher Ilya Myaskovsky from Nizhny Novgorod was charged with four new counts in the case of discrediting the Russian Army (Part 1 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by OVD-Info lawyer Alexey Matasov, who is involved in the case.

According to investigators, the man posted anti-war publications in the Nizhny Novgorod Civil Movement community on VKontakte, in particular, “No to war. No mobilization,” “Fuck war,” and “Don’t shoot.”

The defense lawyer noted that new episodes of the criminal case against the man were combined with the first charge.

The criminal prosecution of Myaskovsky became known on October 7. The case was opened due to publications in a group on VKontakte, which, according to investigators, he administers.

On October 4, security forces came to “inspect” the home of Myaskovsky and two other residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region, and on October 5, he was arrested for three days under the article of disobedience to the police (Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) due to the fact that he allegedly did not introduce himself to the police who came carry out an "inspection". In November, Nizhny Novgorod activists were again searched in connection with this case.

Myaskovsky is prohibited from certain actions: he cannot use the Internet, send and receive mail, or attend public events.

The maximum penalty under the article is five years in prison.
