Cherepovets human rights activist extended house arrest in the case of Fakes about the army

The Cherepovets City Court extended the house arrest until February 17, Gregori Marcus Severin Winter (former name is Grigory Winter), accused under the article on fakes about the Russian army (paragraph 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by a lawyer from the ATS-info Sergey Tikhonov, who represents the interests of a man.

The case against Winter was initiated in August 2022 due to comments on the actions of Russian soldiers in Buch and Irpen published on VKontakte. In September, it became known that the human rights activist was placed in custody. In December, the man was a final charge.

Winter talked about difficult conditions in a pre-trial detention center: at night in his cell the temperature dropped to 4-6 degrees-as a result, a man deaf to one ear due to low temperature. According to the accused, he lacked the necessary drugs, including insulin, in the isolator.

The defendant of the case also reported that in the pre -trial detention center he was humiliated and beaten, trying to ensure that he would write a statement about what was “omitted”.

On October 19, 2022, the court did not renew the human rights activist the term of detention and transferred him under house arrest. The prosecutor's office appealed this decision, but subsequently the court did not re -change the propagation measure and left the twist at home. At the end of November, the man extended the house arrest for three months.

The case of "fakes" about the army of the Russian Federation is not the first time of the persecution of a human rights activist. In 2020, a criminal case of “fakes” about coronavirus (Article 207.1 of the Criminal Code) was opened against Winter and sentenced to two years restrictions on freedom. In August of the same year, the punishment was replaced by half a year of correctional labor. The man was also persecuted under an article on disrespect for court .

In March 2018, an unknown person attacked Winter at his own house. The man is sure that the attack was organized by local authorities because of his participation in the salvation of the Pulovsky forest.
