Internet lost in Nagorno-Karabakh

In Nagorno-Karabakh, the Internet supply was interrupted due to cable damage in the blocked Lachin corridor, the information headquarters of the unrecognized republic told Armenpress.

The Internet communications operator claims that the cable was damaged precisely in that part of the corridor where the activists from Azerbaijan organized the blockade.

The mobile operator Karabakh Telecom also reported interruptions in cellular communications, but noted that they were related to the load on the network, and not to cable damage.

• The Lachin corridor, which is the only road linking Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, has been blocked for a month since the beginning of December by a group of citizens from Azerbaijan who call themselves environmental activists. They protest against the "illegal exploitation of natural resources" and demand access to deposits in the unrecognized republic.
• Armenia accuses Azerbaijan of provoking a humanitarian crisis in Karabakh. Baku claims that Russian peacekeepers stationed in the Lachin corridor are blocking the road. Armenia believes that the peacekeepers are not fulfilling their obligations to allow people and cargo to pass through the Lachin corridor.
