The investigation finally brought charges against Moscow activist Mikhail Krieger, who was charged with criminal charges due to several posts and comments about Russian security forces. This was announced by his lawyer Mikhail Biryukov.
As a result, the activist was charged with three counts of crime: twice under the article on public justification of terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) and one episode under the article on inciting hatred or enmity with the threat of violence (Clause “a”, Part 2 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code). Later, the activist’s charges were strengthened by adding an article about inciting hatred or enmity. The reason was another post by an activist, which contained the words: “I don’t hide from anyone my fierce hatred of the regime, the security officers who established it and personally V.V. Putin. And believe me, when and if I live to see this GBshnya nit hanged , then I will fight with all my might for the right to participate in this uplifting event.”
“Mikhail asks you not to despair, not to lose heart and not to give up. You all remember that when he was free, Mikhail was always involved in organizing assistance to political prisoners, and now he asks you to remember that assistance to political prisoners is practically the only thing that a free person in Russia can do today,” Biryukov wrote in his post.
Krieger was detained on November 3, 2022. The man was not far from the Kurskaya metro station near the Artplay space when security forces in black balaclavas ran up to him, threw him to the ground and then took him away in an unknown direction. The car he arrived in was taken away with him. Later that day, the activist’s home was searched.
On November 5, the Cheryomushkinsky court arrested Krieger for two months; on December 19, the arrest was extended until February 2, 2023. At the end of November he was transferred to SIZO-2 “Butyrka”.
