The Bryansk Regional Court sentenced the Russian Ilya Kutsev to seven years in a maximum security colony on charges of attempting to participate in the armed group in the territory of a foreign state for purposes that contradict the interests of the Russian Federation (part 3 of article 30, part 2 of article 208 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by the press service of the courts in the region.

Kutsev was also sentenced to restriction of freedom for 1.5 years. The man did not plead guilty.

“Having learned about the beginning of her, the unemployed resident of Bryansk born in 1993 He decided to go to the territory of Ukraine to participate in hostilities against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation as part of the Ukrainian Legion of Freedom of Russia, ”the press service said.

For this, Kutsev allegedly went to Minsk with his brother, who did not know about the purpose of the trip. In Zlynka, when checking the documents, it turned out that his brother could not leave Russia due to arrears on alimony. As a result, according to the court, Kutsev alone decided to get to the destination, but he was detained by law enforcement officers.

On January 9, the FSB reported on the detention and arrest in the Bryansk region of a Russian citizen on suspicion of treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code).

“This person during 2022 has repeatedly attempted to travel through the Republic of Belarus to Ukraine to participate in hostilities on the side of Ukrainian armed groups against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation,” the FSB said.
